Art 1 Final Portfolio

My favorite kind of art to make is the kind that requires lots of comunication with other people because I am the kind of guy that likes to work with others. The Picture you see below is light art that would take about 5 people just to make one peice. In this picture you can see that this group made the Superhero Batman. It requred only 4 people to make this one, one being the model, another making the wings, another making the face, and one more making the bat symbol. And all have to do it at the same time for it to come out as a nice piece. Communication was key in this project because some of the pieces of the project would take longer than others, and in order for a piece to come out even to be visible, each piece would have to have been done at the right time.

The piece that I think I grew the most from as an artist was the landscape painting. It was a good way to test my skills that I didnt even know i had. My favorite part of this painting is the clouds. I wouldnt have been able to do this painting without learning how to make a lot of it. I would have never guessed that if i smudge the clouds with a big dry brush it would make this pop and come to life more. My favorite part of the painting is, in fact, the clouds, because I actually spend more time on the clouds than anything and they turned out the best. Another reason I think that this project turned out the best is because it was FUN! Having a fun project to do really makes me involve myself and makes my art better.

The project that required the most skill that was learned from past projects was, in my opinion, the prints project. For this project, we had to use patience, new tools, and creativity. What we did, was that we had about a quater inch thick piece that we would carve off small pieces at a time that would eventually make a picture. The picture I made was the "Ganster Gopher". Without the tools of patience and learning new tools that I had learned before this project, it would not have turned out looking as clear. Because I took my time on it, it turned into what I wanted, and I was glad I learned these things before we did this project.

The project that I think was the least important to learn was the iPad drawings. I didnt like this project because I think that the use of technology takes away from the comuntication of the class, and limits the creativity that you can put into your art. I also didnt learn much that would help me in other projects, because since the tools are specific to what app your using, its not like you will ever use those specific tools again. Another reason I did not like this project is because it was hard to use. I believe that art should come from you, and what you think. It was hard to display real thought and emotion in these pictures which is what art really means to me.

The piece that represents me as an artist would be the hand panting. I thing this project represents me because it shows how I like to work with others, while at the same time using knowledge about art, such as perspective, because I could tell that if you did not look at it from the right angle, it wouldn't look the same. Another thing that makes me like this kind of art, is that it is unconventional. I like to take something that isnt a canvas, and make it into art. I also like to use nature in my art. This represents me because it uses all the things I like to incorporate. These things are people, unconventionality, nature, and comunication. This is why this project represents me as an artist.
